impossible because right after booting the kernel the screen remains blank and

The 0.5pre1 ftp installation today (03.06.2006) did not create an xorg.conf 
file, i.e. after giving the resolution and the colour depth, normally the 
resolution is tested (in my case 1280x1024 and 24 bit) but that screen did not 
appear. In any previous installation (last test: 8-12 days ago) that part of 
the installation worked fine for me.

I tried rebuilding the GIMP package to compile some stuff I didn't need/want 
out but kept getting compile errors regarding it's PNG plugin. Building with 
--without-libpng worked but wasn't a viable option so I did some research and

that GIMP was using an old libpng API that was changed and GIMP wasn't updated

FAM is file alteration monitor. If a file is created/deleted it automatically 
updates, konqueror and "file open" window with the new file entry. Gamin 
doesn't work with KDE. so Gamin is not required, and nor useful for KDE 
desktop. Try this: (with gamin) 1. open HOME folder using konqueror 2. open 
konsole 3. create a file "touch hello.txt" 4. can you see the new file 
"hello.txt" in konqueror window? I hope not. because gamin won't update the 
konqueror window with file creation/deletion. Try the above with FAM installed 
(gamin removed), and as soon as you press enter after typing "touch hello.txt", 
you can see "hello.txt" in konqueror window. I am really annoyed with Replace 
fam with frugalware-current/gamin? whenever I try "pacman -Syu" it is annoying. 
Please remove gamin dependency for KDE. it is not required!

I've not been able to do a proper install yet: 1) the previous error I reported 
persists: "... disk_next_partition() failed" "Error: Unable to open /dev/md0 - 
unrecignized disk label" but I can go on with the installation 2) Doing an 
install with all packages: The installation goes well (up to the end as normal) 
but the system remains unbootable: (a) because no symlink for 
vmlinuz-2-6-16-fw5 has been created (i.e. no vmlinuz) (b) when I change it to 
vmlinuz-2.6.16-fw5 manually, the system boots but hangs after the message: 
starting logging. There is a before the logging message that says: "/bin/ rm: 
cannot remove '/var/run/utmp': Read only file system \ 
/etc/rc.d/rcS.d/S16rc.mount: line50: /var/run/utmp': Read only file system 3. 
Doing only a base install shows no errors in grub creating a symlink but: (a) 
I'm neither prompted to give a password for root not for the normal user (b) 
trying to log in later, root has indeed a blank password

Though the Truetype fonts look good with KDE/KWord, but the printouts are 
really ugly. freetype is compiled with bytecode interpreter. Other applications 
which use cups for printing prints TTF very nicely, like MS word (using 
crossover/wine), TextMaker 2002. But KWord/KDE applications print very bad 
fonts. KOffice IRC suggested these URLs, and I can't get Ghostscript fonts to 
work with KDE :( They say that the Distro has to provide Ghostscript 
configuration. Also TTF2PT1 utitlity required along with kwdfont (present in

location, and the LANG and LC varibles are set to hu_HU. In FC5 with same 
version is OK. I saw 1 difference, they patched and compiled with libgnomesu, 
you compiled with gksu support. Perhaps this produce the problem.

There are many True Type Fonts which has only Regular style face, like Century, 
Wingdings, etc., Fontconfig provides a way to have Artificial Italic (slant) 
which works. But the Artifical Bold is not working. Even with the Embolden code 
added to fonts.conf. could you please consider enabling the "Artificial Bold" 
feature for frugal, which is required for many fonts. thanks. please see

The installer is ok now, except for the error you mentioned with parted. 
Something as a normal user is strange, however. Some permissions can't be set 
correctly. Although I set full user permissions on my vmware folder, I can't 
run the vmware vmx container file. k3b complains about cdrecord and cdrdao not 
being installed although I set the correct group permissions in k3bsetup and as 
root everything works fine. There has, I think, also been a case where a 
message after installing a program said: Can't find uid 1000. Many fonts look 
strange as normal user as well. They look good as root but not anti-aliased in 
some applications. Hope anybody can do anything with that.

The parted bug is gone on one machine - good work! Somehow my other machine 
still reports an error, which I can't read fully since another window popped up 
before it. What I can read, however, is "...function pe?_disk_next_partition() 
failed", which is the old error message. It might be due to my hard disk, which 
once was in a raid array but which now isn't. There has often been the 
following error in the previous installers "Error: Unable to open /dev/md0 - 
unrecognized disk label", which now does no longer appear since the 13062006 
installer. If you have any idea how to remove the "marking" of this drive as 
part of an array (/dev/md0) I'd be very thankful.

DrPython. http://drpython.sourceforge.net/ I googled around, for something to 
help we with python programming, and found this. I intend to start a project, 
and was initially planning on using perl, but after some thinking, I decied to 
go with python instead. This IDE, has a (for me) very valuble feature; 
"interpretor console", wich allows the programmer, to type in commands, and see 
what they will output. For example ' print "hello" ' will output hello. :D #### 
NOTE #### I didnt do this FB entierly on myself, I had help from priyank doing 
this one.

I have been having a play with bluez 3.0 and I've repackaged it and so far 
everything seems to be working nicely. I redid the initscript and chkconfig is 
new to me so I don't really know what the priority bit should be set at but 
here is what I'm using anyway. The old 2.25 packages didn't work for me at all 
but I never looked into why as it wasn't a life threatening urgent issue. Find 
attached all related files.

Hello, If by some mistake, /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-$IFACE.pid is not deleted, dhcpcd 
won't start next time, complaining that another instance is already running. 
(This was the case when my laptop battery drained and the system halted.)

has no support for this distro... The tools included in this package is: Users 
& Groups ; Shared Folders ; Network ; Time & Date I think, that we/you/someone, 
should remove this package, for he time beeing, untill, it states that it works 
with Frugalware. I havent investigated it much yet, so i dont know, what has to 
be done, or what is missing, to get it to "work". Im putting it here, so that 
it will be considered, and discussed about, to the next release of this

Applications > System Tools > Configuration editor, and change the following 
key to "tr": /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd/layouts . Restart gnome, 
enjoy. PS. This may be an upstream bug with gnome because Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 
(but not Ubuntu Dapper 6.10) has this extremely annoying bug as well...

have its database package unavailable due to frequent updates. Ideally the 
installer should provide a list of mirrors to use; a short term solution might 
be to stick a list of mirrors in a file and use a mirror sorting utility to 
select the closest one.

The installation works fine up to the point where you have to choose the 
resolution and colour depth. After defining the colour depth the installer 
tries to start a test x-session but can't and jumps back the the beginning of 
the resolution settings. You can only abort this by quitting the installation. 
The x-server works, however, when booting into the system and making and 
xorg.conf with xorgconfig manually.

The bins in the /usr/NX/bin directory are broken somehow: nxclient starts in an 
xmessage window with just an ok button. Many other applications in that 
directory just report: error while loading shared libraries: libXcompext.so.1: 
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. From another linux 
machine I connect to frugalware's nxserver, the session is initiated, then the 
nx logo appears but then the session terminates.

since it is the build script which must check prerequisites.) So if anyone 
cares about 0.4 at all, please take care of it if possible. I use 0.4 on my 
home desktop for one good reason: I need an installation which is fully 
functional all the time - not only for me... I wonder if the html tags will be

When I lunch xchm everytime I open any .chm file, or then when I open some 
chapter, click next, or just want to configure fonts I have such a warnings: 
Failed to display HTML document in ISO-8859-1 encoding I tried with LC_ALL=C 
and nothing.

Sometimes the list of updated packages ('recent udpates') on the main homepage 
shows a package unknown to me. Then I click on the package name and I can - 
among other information - read a short summary. However, it would be helpful to 
include the url from the FrugalBuild, because this is what it was intended for.

	session

If I configure Kaffeine's Xine parameters to use the SDL driver (which I want 
to do because it uses only 1/3 the resources of XSHM), the first time I play a 
a DVD everything works great, but if I then close down Kaffeine, open it again, 
and try to play the same DVD again, I get only audio and no video. If I then 
change to another driver such as XHSM, and then back to SDL again, or restart a 
new session, it will work again. If appears that SDL is getting stuck and not 
closing down properly.

I discovered after a php upgrade on helicon, that apache don't start, because 
of php cannot find libidn.so.11 that belongs to libidn package. This package is 
not in the depend list of php. Please correct it.
