Now, I have to use it like a left-handed because my mouse buttons are very... hard for my finger. So, it will be possible to have the choice between a right-handed and a left-handed buttons assignation in the future, during the installation like the choice of the keyboard map or the choice of the language, please ? It is not a request with a selfish goal :-s. Before, I didn't seen that there were left-handed people who had troubles with it :-s. And I think that request will make Frugalware more... convivial for users, no ? I changed to original (FST) FrugalBuild to use version 1.1.0. The only modification were version and checksum. I have been runing it since the release and didn't encounter any problems. The up2date variable is the only thing which doesn't work. Could the package be updated? I know it would normally be wise to use the stable version, but wine is a bit different. It won't support a lot of appications, if stable is used. Most other distros also use the development version, because it is very stable. In the recent installer, the user must provide the device name and sometimes it is not obvious whether it is eth0, eth1, wlan0 etc... It is simply more comfortable to choose an interface if there is a list, similarly to the list of disks before the partitioning. Sometimes the installer gets an ieee1394 (firewire) port as an interface... Please revise and implement or reject the request, as you like it ;-) If you agree with this idea, please extend netconfig with this feature as well. Check thread here for more details: http://frugalware.org/pipermail/frugalware-devel/2008-July/005337.html So what shall we do? My idea is to use install instead of cp, but that may cause issues, as vmiklos pointed out, with documentation detected that is a directory, but that seems unlikely. Who makes a "README", etc, as a directory? Also, we could use -size +0b to leave out documentation that is less than 1 bytes, or equal to 1 byte. I encountered two major bugs that would prevent many from being able to successfully complete an installation. First, selecting the KDE package set caused the installation of the first cd to fail. (As a side note, I decided to do this installation with only the first cd image.) It seems to me that some KDE packages on the first disk are dependent on some of the packages on the second disk. In my opinion, this is what caused the first disk to fail. By deselecting the KDE, Gnome, and Xfce4 package sets, I was able to get the install to succeed. (I'm not sure if Gnome or Xfce4 suffer from the same problem as KDE here. I deselected them simply since I didn't care to install them during the initial install.) Second, the grub install failed - leaving me to boot my new virtual pc into nothing more than a black screen. By modifying the boot options of the install cd, I was able to then boot into my new virtual pc system. Once in, I found neither grubconfig or grub-install would properly install grub. I recall grub-install complaining about no device for /boot. I hadn't created a seperate /boot partition since I installed into a vm with only about 10G of virtual HD space. Therefore I wound up reinstalling - setting up a seperate /boot partition this time. This time, I had the same problems as previously with the install, leaving me once again to use the installation disk to boot into the system. This time, running grubconfig would segfault. Using grub-install managed to work though. I installed the shared-mime-info package, removed and reinstalled one of the applications for which MIME info updating had failed, and this time the MIME info update post-installation task was successful. I know have no idea of which packages had their MIME info database update fail post-installation. There are only a few packages with shared-mime-info listed as a dependency. Perhaps there ought to be more packages with this or some similar package - e.g. gnome-mime-data - listed as a dependency? Here's a little more background on my Frugalware installation. I run XFCE at the moment, together with a few GTK+2-based applications. To get this installed I installed only the 'base' group, then did a "pacman-g2 -S xfce4" sync. Perhaps the fact that I'm using GTK+2-based applications but don't have core Gnome packages installed complicates the configuration? This is probably related to hard drives only, USB sticks seem to work fine. Perhaps the different handling of sd* and hd* type disks could lead to a solution of this problem. USB hard drives: rwx------ root root USB sticks: rwxr-xr-x user root If you need more detailed information, please ask questions. I had to remount it manually to get write access. I'm using Xfce, which has hal implemented. It would be nice to have it automatically mounted with ntfs-3g if the driver is installed.
