With the description included, you could be sure to select the closest mirror(s) and the download of packages would then be faster than if a remote mirror was selected. Of course this information is already available outside the installer but it would be more easily accessible if it was contained within the installer itself. Of course mirror support could be much more sophisticated but I honestly don't think it's required. For the record, though, other enhancements I can think of include: Using the person's location as the method of selecting mirror(s); Ping every mirror and using the data returned to select the most appropriate mirror(s). I'm mentioning those other ideas in case the person who responds to this feature request says "Oh, what fantastic ideas! That would take me only 5 minutes to implement!" :P More information can be found at the following URL: http://bugs.frugalware.org/task/4456 You are receiving this message because you have requested it from the Flyspray bugtracking system. As explained in this topic https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24703, it's related with exa_unaccel.c and its exaGetPixmapFirstPixel function. The bug is fixed since Xorg 7.1RC2. The topic also pretty much gives a temporary workaround : 1. edit ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfwm4.xml 2. change the property name="theme" tag to point to a working theme (value attribute): "xfce-winter" does the job, here (mist and Xfce aswell). So this bug will be fixed whenever Xorg is updated. Everything looked OK and I first logged in and started GNOME 3 then started trying it out. After only a few minutes of use the laptop froze - i.e. the desktop environment didn't respond to keyboard or mouse, I couldn't even quite from X with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. I finally turned off the laptop. I tried the same sequence and again the laptop froze. Thinking it might have something to do with GNOME 3 I logged in and started Xfce 4.8 instead but again the laptop froze after only 1 or 2 minutes. I have looked over the content of various log files in /var/log but can't see any sign of problems. Can anyone suggest how I might resolve this? Is it perhaps a matter of trying various kernel parameters to turn off specific features and see if they're causing the problem? I have my CD-ROM/Burner drive using IDE connector. And, under Frugalware, it seems to be under the /dev/hde point. By default, my groups are : floppy uucp cdrom scanner audio locate camera video storage netdev users and the /dev/hde owner group was disk. I change this group as cdrom. It is possible to assign the good groups to the user after an installation? I know this is not a real problem to write a command but, it is the type of problem that we don't see immediatly. thanks More information can be found at the following URL: http://bugs.frugalware.org/task/4476 You are receiving this message because you have requested it from the Flyspray bugtracking system.
