Oh, have forgott to answer. :( I have looked on this. Evince makes here 
the same problems. But I haven't find out why. The terminal output isn't 
very helpfull.

I have found out that the Xlib message on starting evince comes from our 
evince-0.4.0-t1lib.patch. I have compiled evince without this patch and 
I doesn't get this message. But evince hangs again. With gnomes bug-buddy.

The thing with the gnome-panel. I'm using 1024x768, too. But the panels 
are all on the right place.
