krix proposed a nice solution for this

currently we upload the fpm after push. this was necessary in the past,
but now it isn't: we can do an "fpm up; git push; fpm del" and then
it'll solve all our problems as we can decide if an fpm needs building
or not right after a push

something backward compatible. i like such methods :)
