Gnome and GTK breakage in -current

Traducciones: EN, FR

Yes, we know Gnome and GTK stuff is a bit broken in -current :)

This is because we have upgraded to GTK 2.10, and also we are upgrading Gnome to the development version (see the mailing list archive for reasons why). So please bear with us while we do this. The result at the end of this should be a faster and nicer Gnome. I will post here once we have finished upgrading, at which point it will be good to start posting bug reports about problems that you find.

Improvements on the homepage

Traducciones: EN, FR

Amazingly, in the time since our homepage upgrade, we’ve only had 1 bug report to do with the packages section. So now we can work on adding a few improvements. I’ve just written a kind of robot that automatically posts all news posts from the site to the Frugalware-announce mailing list. It works thanks to darcs post-hooks, so that whenever we push a change to the homepage darcs repository, the post-hook is run to check for new news posts. Don’t forget, if you do find a bug remember to post it on our Bug Tracker.

New Frugalware homepage!

Traducciones: EN, FR

Welcome to the brand new Frugalware homepage! This is a complete rewrite of our homepage, featuring table-less design, XML for data storage, user-friendly URLs with mod_rewrite and easy translations with Gettext. If you would like to help translate the page, please post to the frugalware-devel mailing list. If you find any bugs while using the page, please report them to the Bug Tracker under the Homepage category, or visit our IRC channel and report them to AlexExtreme or IroNiQ. Also, feel free to give them your comments on the page too.

ATI and nVidia binary drivers broken in current

Traducciones: EN, FR

For those of you that use the current branch of Frugalware, nVidia and ATI binary drivers are currently broken due to the upgrade to Xorg 7.1. Specifically, fonts do not display at all on screen. There are 2 solutions to this problem - either downgrade all Xorg packages, or switch to using the open source Xorg drivers for your card in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. (ati and nv). Note that Frugalware 0.5pre1 is not affected unless you have run pacman -Syu since installation.
