Sure you can. From what I know all the major BSDs (Free , Open and Net ) use gcc as their compiler. Also Apple uses a modified gcc version and then distributes closed source stuff they compiled with it.
The only thing is that if you modify gcc itself you have to provide the changes made under a GPL license.
I'm no expert at this but I can tell you it's not an issue.
