Voting is open on Devil505’s blog for the default Frugalware 1.3 (Haven) wallpaper. A total of 22 fantastic submissions were received and it’s now up to you to vote for your favourite. The chosen wallpaper will not only be the default wallpaper but also used as the basis for other themes, including GDM/KDM/SLiM themes. Voting closes at midnight on 17 July 2010 (French local time), so please do vote because it’s a great opportunity to influence the look and feel of Frugalware.

The Frugalware Developer Team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Frugalware 1.3pre2, the second technical preview of the upcoming 1.3 stable release. Here are some of the major improvements and changes since 1.3pre1:

• Improvements:
  • The monolithic configuration of XOrg is now split to the xorg.conf.d directory. You can still use the monolithic config, but the config files in the new directory have priority.
  • Updated image libraries: libjpeg 8 and libpng 1.4. While adding support for these new libraries, we touched 1500+ packages, doing various minor fixes and improvements here and there.
• Package updates:
  • Linux 2.6.34
  • KDE SC 4.4.4
  • Mozilla Firefox 3.6.4
  • OpenOffice.org 3.2.1
  • Updated libraries: jack, libpng, libjpeg.

The Frugalware Developer Team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Frugalware 1.3pre1, the first technical preview of the upcoming 1.3 stable release. Here are some of the major improvements and changes since 1.2:

• Improvements:
  • For the first time in the history of Frugalware Linux, we’re offering an official graphical netinstall image, search for the “-gui” suffix on the ftp mirrors.
  • This time we’ve verified that no workaround is needed to install this release in VMware and because of this, the relevant note is removed from the documentation.
• Package updates:
  • Linux kernel 2.6.33
  • GNOME 2.30
  • KDE 4.4.2
  • Updated all the E17 packages (version 0.9.9.063)
  • More than 1000 package updates
  • Exactly 100 new packages
