toolchain bumped to gcc6

toolchain bumped to gcc6

Translations: FR
In the last weeks after the release of Frugalware 2.1 crazy went forward and bumped gcc to version 6.2.1. In a concentrated effort all developers worked in the gcc6 WIP repo and rebuild many packages with the new toolchain. Yesterday we merged that WIP into current. If you do your usual “pacman-g2 -Syu” you will be prompted to upgrade pacman-g2 first. Then you will get an error about llvm. So before doing the pacman-g2 upgrade you have to remove llvm and readd it after:

Translations: FR
pyFPM is the legitimate successor of gFPM, with a new interface, a dedicated daemon for it and more ergnomics. It’s written in Python and uses GTK+2 and DBus to run. Version 1.2.3 has been released a few days ago et is now considered as “stable”. You can test it without any issues (or only a very little). Packages are not yet available on Frugalware’s tree, but you can download them here.
powerpc (ppc) arch powering down

powerpc (ppc) arch powering down

Translations: FR, ES
This architecture has been removed and will no longer be supported. We lost our buildserver for it and no longer possess the means to support it, as no developers are left to care for it as well. So, powerpc is being powered down. If you possess such hardware, we are sorry, but there is no other choice for us. x86/x86_64 support will continue to be supported indefinitely, as they are much easier to support.

Important server in the Frugalware infrastructure was compromised

Translations: FR, ES
Dear users, I’m sorry to report that one of the important servers of the Frugalware infrastructure was compromised on August 25. It took a while to find out the details of how that was possible, read here if you’re interested. In short: we found that the attacker installed a backdoor similar to the one installed on kernel.org recently. We have already reinstalled the operating system, plus taken steps to prevent a similar attack in the future.
